Visit With Mom

We visited my Mom over the weekend; seems like everytime we go up there their weather is doing something. At least this time it was just rain not snow! Last time we went we ended up driving in a major whiteout! We had a good time with Mom and took her to those places that she wanted to go starting out with Red Lobster for shrimp.

On the way home we stayed in Des Moines and I stopped at my favorite LSS - Memory Bound - they were just closing but they were sweet enough to let me in to get the one thing that I had to get - the Sizzix extended cutting pads for the Bigz XL dies and I also quickly picked up a few other things. Now I can do the 3D circle and spinner dies that I had picked up from QVC - they arrived last week and I could not find the cutting pads anywhere around here.

After the dentist today I will make a pop up and post it.

Hello Kitty

I did a quick Hello Kitty card using my Cricut cartridge for a friend who got a cancer free blood test. I used the Sizzix Scrap Pink kit to emboss the Breast Cancer symbol on the heart and used the Martha Stewart punch for the border - it is one of my favorites!

I just saw the new Chef Dress Ups Uniform die from Sizzix and although I have the great Chef stamp from Stampin' Up - I just could not resist this cute little Sizzix chef - he even comes with a skillet, rolling pin and spoon!

Heartside box

One of the greatest designers using the Cricut Design Studio is
Jen C whose blog is at http://jensbrainthings.blogspot.com/ I saw this heart shaped box and asked her if she would design a cut file for it. She then allowed me to test it out for her - I was afraid that I might not be able do it justice. Here is my take on her design using a white ribbon for the handle. You could also use paper for the handles. I filled the box with conversation hearts tied with a small red bow.

Yesterday was quite the day. Went to the basement to find it was 1 1/2 inches deep in waterr water! I walked into the laundry room to find a ceiling tile crumled on the floor and water shooting out of a valve in the ceiling. The valve should have been hooked up to the tubing for the refrigerator but it had some how dislodged and things only became worse since the valve of course would not turn off now either - so while I continued to wet vac everything up - Don made a emergency trip to Mernards to buy all the repair items. Needless to say I am so tired of water. It's bad enough just cleaning up all the water but you have to first move everything that you have stored there too.

By the time we finished cleaning up Don & I were both exhausted. I have yet to put everything back. So much for my plans to scrapbook this weekend.

A New Day

Welcome to the new world of blogging for me. My friend Ros has talked me into doing this since she has started her own blog - I hope that I do not let her down with my meager blog when hers is so pretty! I hope to learn more and post some of my work as well.
